You are definitely going to cause a Check Engine Light (CEL) when installing catless downpipe. Whereas with a catted downpipe, you have a chance of causing CEL โ it depends on the CAT. With a downpipe installation, CEL is caused by the aftermarket catalytic converter that may or may not come with the downpipe.
